Loud and Clear...Alabama 810 Supports Our Troops

Danger lies beyond every door when you are put in harm's way...

Alabama 810 Takes A Stand.... Unequivocally, we support our troops wherever they may be. Increasingly these days our men and women are under attack and taking hits from...their own countrymen. The most vocal detractors are found in the traditional media, of which we are a part...and apart on this issue. Let it be said that Alabama 810 stands proudly with our fighting men and women. Let no harm come to them from the country they fight and sometimes die for.

If you listen to some, we're just spinning our wheels in the dust of the Middle East. Square that with the picture on the left, smiling Iraqi kids holding our flag. You can bet that the smiles are genuine. Who can tell this story better than our media and why don't they? To hear the nightly news you would think the whole world is against us, or is it just the the ones who agree with the their view?

A Patriotic Song by a man not of our nation...

There Is A Place Called America  Click the link to hear an Englishman's take on our soldiers...

Like many people I watched the election coverage on American TV stations, and I feel sure - like many people I was moved by the gallantry displayed by the young soldiers and their families. At this point I will explain that I am an English song writer. This year I lost my Dad, who had a pretty tough World War 2, driving a Sherman tank through Holland, France and Germany.
I knew a little of what he had gone through and maybe that's why I found it so affecting. I'm not sure if modern America or even its soldiery will find it strikes the right note, but anyway I think it said what I felt - namely that many of us are grateful for the difficult and dangerous jobs that they do. Also I think it is important to show that at a time when there is much talk on TV of foreign opposition to the American Army - this was written by a foreign national quite spontaneously.

So, what do our troops think of support from home? Below is mail from the front written by your fellow Alabamians in harm's way. At the end of the report we'll tell you one way you can contribute...

Messages From The Troops - Alabama
From the website, America Supports You, a product of our U.S. Military

I would just like to say thank you to all of our supporters. We regularly receive "Any Marine" mail and distribute it among our young Marines here in Iraq. I believe it is a real morale boost for them to see that they are not forgotten and that their service does not go unnoticed. Thank you again for the warm welcomes we receive when returning to the US. We would still do our jobs just as diligently, even without support from home, but it is nice to know you care. Semper Fi.

Gunnery Sergeant Smith, USMC, Birmingham, Ala.

I want to thank those back home who support us. I'm currently in Iraq. I heard about this web site one day and decided to check it out. You have no idea what it feels like to be in a place where everybody hates you and things are happening all around you that you never thought you would experience, but yet still be able to get on a computer and see how many people support us over here makes it all worth it. I'm glad to be an "American soldier" and proud to serve for those of you back home. Thank you! God bless.

BRANDON HICKS, A1C, USAF, PERDIDO, Ala.

Thank all of you who continue to support the troops. You make us realize what our job really means and to hear a thank you goes a long way in my eyes. All I can say is Thank You America for you support, thoughts, prayers.

Spc.Cates / Army, Arkadelphia, Ala.

I am currently serving in Iraq and I want to thank you all for the support you give to the troops. I am grateful and I realize that I am blessed to have so many great people most whom I have never met supporting me and my fellow comrades. I miss the my loved ones back home and I cannot wait to return. So thanks again for all you do. Sincerely, SPC MCCall/3RD COSCOM

Chiquita MCCall/SPC/Army, Wetumpka, Ala.

Hey everyone, what’s up? Just got through working and just wanted to do this so I can thank you all for what you are doing back there to help all of us out and hope to get more of you involved and help all of you better understand what we are doing over here and hear about how everyone is holding up back home. Semper Fidelis, Robert Edward Carter III, Sgt USMC

Carter Robert E III Sgt US MARINE CORP, GREENVILLE, Ala.

I just want to say thank you for all of your support. Without all the support it can be hard over here. I am currently in Iraq for my second year. Thank you. Roll Tide!!!

Kenneth Wright CPL Army, Athens, Ala.

It is hard to put into words the feelings that one may have when they put their life on the line for someone else's freedom. I feel sorry for a people who have been oppressed by their ruling body for centuries. I believe that the freedom seeking American settlers left England searching for an opportunity to free themselves from similar oppression of the government. Were we able to establish democracy for ourselves? No. I think it was the French (yes, that nation that has such a bad name these days) were the ones to stand up and support us financially as well as supplying arms. They did it for us and we are offering the same to a destitute nation as far as the average citizen goes. Sure there are families with "oil money" but those aren't the only ones that should have a voice. Thank you for supporting our cause... their cause. Just remember, the US wasn't set up in 5 years either. I would also like to thank my wife, Laura, and my 3 children- Sariah (age 5), Hannah (age 4) and David (age 1), all of whom are bearing the brunt of the burden in our house. Don't forget the families that have to sacrifice to make this effort happen as well. Your fellow American, Lt Donny Kingsley

1st Lt Donald Kingsley USAF, Ozark, Ala.

Thank you for all the support that you show us. I am currently serving in Iraq and it is nice to know that the American People still care about us! Your support and prayers are what we need in order to win this War on Terrorism! Thank You and God Bless You and God Bless America!

SGT Florence A. Porter, Prattville, Ala.

Thank you all! With so many people against the political side of the War on Terrorism, it's easy to forget the troops involved. The tremendous impact that your letters to the troops have is incredible. Thank you for being as caring and warm-hearted as you are. We salute you.

Andrew Gomien, SrA, USAF, Mobile, Ala.

I am currently stationed at Kadena AB in Japan and just wanted to say thank you for your support. It is nice to know that someone cares about what we do. All we ever see is the news and all they talk about is how no one supports our efforts and that no one supports this war. It is really nice to know someone does. Thanks for everything.

Nathaniel Huff, SrA, US Air Force, Prattville, Ala.

To everyone who has supported us from the simple task of prayer to the ones that spend day after day calling our familes to touch base and make sure they have everything they need ... THANK YOU! While we are over here doing our jobs making the world a safer place, you are all back there keeping the homefront steady and growing. May God bless every one of you for your works of good. We are over here to protect you, and it's always good to have support back home to rely on. Thanks for being our comfort and our rock to fall back on.

SPC Blount, U.S. Army, Pelham, Ala.

I just want to thank all of you for the support that you show us. We don't pay much attention to the political conflict that is going on right now. We tend to stay and fight the good fight. Thanks again. God bless. "Always drive forward."

SPC Blankenship, Alabaster, Ala.

I just logged on to this website and read the messages from home...I thought that the morale back there was dying down but after reading your messages, it lifted my spirits. Thank you for all of your Support and I would like to say to my son, Israel: I will be home soon, baby. Be a good boy for Grammy and Pawpaw and I love you so much. I miss you and will see you soon. Thank you Mom and Dad for all you Love, Support, and Help.

SPC Angela (Puckett) Montalvo, U.S. Army (Active), Russellville, Ala.

I really appreciate all that you have done. Thank you very much for your prayers and your support. I am a single parent currently deployed to Iraq. It's hard being away from my girls, but in the words of one of my favorite patriotic songs, "I am proud to be an American where at least I know I am free. I won't forget the men who died and gave that right to me. So I'll gladly stand up and defend her still today. There ain't doubt about this land. God bless the USA." Continue to pray for all soldiers. We love you all.

SSG Marilyn Sutton, Phenix City, Ala.

I want to thank all who have helps support us over here. We are working hard to ensure a better way of life for those who never had a choice of a better way. I also want to take this time to thank all who helped out the families of my home town and the surrounding state during this terrrible time of destruction. We the soldiers over here haven't forgotten you just like you haven't forgotten us. Our prayer go out to you all every night as well. god bless and protect you all...RECON!

Stephen Sweeny SGT. US ARMY, Theodore, Ala.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who shows support for us, especially while we are away. During my most recent deployment, we received cards and care packages from different individuals and organizations almost weekly, and knowing that the people you are fighting for are "in your corner" makes it much easier to go to work every day. When I needed a pick-me up it always seemed like that was the time that God sent mail from proud Americans telling of their support for us. Thank you for loving America and it's defenders and may God continue to bless America. "Assist, Protect, Defend".

SGT James K. Cleveland , Ala.

I would like to thank everyone for their support. Thanks for caring. It means so much to everyone in the Armed forces, I am sure of that. I have served in the United States Navy now for 16 years. I have enjoyed serving my country and protecting its people. To me there is no better reward than to see people carrying on freely and enjoying their lives to the fullest. Again, Thanks for all your support.

Fred Jones III/E-6/USN, Ragland, Ala.

Thanks for the support! It feels good to see messages from home. From Baghdad

MSG Steven L. McKee, Montgomery, Ala.

I want to thank all the people who support us while we are over here. I have been here for 5 months and I can't begin to say how much it means to hear on tv about all of these people who say they appreciate what we are doing. I can't wait to come home and once again thank you for all you do back home. Semper Fi!

Joshua Blake Dale/LCPL/USMC, Sylacauga, Ala.

Thank you America. I live in Alabama, and I can't begin to tell you how patriotic my hometown and state is. I love America and all it stands for. One day I will return home to that great country. Semper Fi!

To the beutiful state of Alabama. Just wanted to say thanks for your support. It really means a lot to me and all the men and women in uniform. I have been over there 4 different times. I have 2 peace keeping missions under my belt and 3 different combat tours; operation enduring freedom and operation iraqi freedom. To be honest with you, it is really hard to be away from family and friends during holidays and all other family functions but remember freedom isn't free. I will be back in Alabama for good in july 2005 just got back from iraq active duty for six years to be frank I am mentally and physically worn out. Thank you so much for supporting the troops over in Iraq. I am currently in Baghdad, Iraq stationed at Log Base Seitz. WalMart has really made a difference in the lives of the soldiers here. It is spring time here now and the weather is already 109 degrees. The soldiers would really enjoy a pool to cool off if Wal Mart could donate one. Thanks so much for what you have done.

SSG ROSARIO, BENNY army, SMITHS, Ala.

Thanks to all of you and your support while we are deployed. I am a medic in the Alabama Army National Guard deployed in Iraq. I have been to Abu Ghraib Prison, 86th CSH Hospital in Baghdad, and to Camp Liberty in Baghdad. We are making a difference here but it is very slow. We can't thank you enough for the USO visits and all the support on the networks, news papers, and all the care packages that are sent to us by so many people who we don't know that take the time out of their busy schedules to write to us and send things. I can't thank you enough. God bless you all.

SPC Kathy Moomaw, Alabama Army National Guard, Vina, Ala.

Hello, I am writing you from Taji, Iraq with the 396th Transportation Company, and I would like to know how to get someone to support my unit. They soldiers are doing a fine job over here and they need someone to send letters and cards here because I think that would make their day. I love soldiers and would do anything to see them happy. This will be a great moral booster for them.

Reid, Linda, SSG, US Army, Alabaster, Ala.

1LT Jonathan Aplin, Montgomery, Ala.

There is no doubt that we are in a war of ideology backed with bullets and bombs. Though we are insulated, far away from the front, to lose this war we didn't want and only dimly understand would surely lead to a fate more terrible than most can imagine. To lose means death or the unraveling of civilization which would again mean...death...for most.
The solider at the front doesn't ponder these points. To him, it's straightforward. It's the survival of the guy on his right and his left. It's not asking too much that we, who are safe, give whatever support we can, even if it means just knowing that men and women are risking all for our comforts. It's not too much to ask for a little good news on the nightly news...or our local media. Alabama 810 supports our troops...all the way.

Of worldly things, there are many ways to help the soldier who risks all for the safety of his or her nation. But we must never forget the power of prayer. America is still a praying nation, thank God. Please pray for our troops.

O God of Mercy, we beg You now to protect in a special way those who are fighting for us and for the country we love. Bless them and take care of them.
